Today I'll talk about the Arranged Team feature in Random Team. What this option is that you can create and invite your own party and search the Random Team feature with +1 or +2 player. So if you and your buddy is on a party with 2 players, you can actually search the Arranged Team 2v2 or Random Team 3v3 and 4v4. Rankings of the 2v2 will be considered Arranged Team of you and your buddy and will be ranked. However, if you searched the 3v3 or 4v4 feature, these wins are actually being considered into your 3v3 and 4v4 Random Team stats. If you have a party of 3, you can search the Random Team 4v4 feature, where 4v4 will be calculated towards your 4v4 Random Team Wins.
Blizzard has created a very interesting feature. On the pros, this system lets only 2 players to play 3 or 4 persons game. This can be quite a fun aspect if your not into the 2 player SC2 style. Unlike Warcraft 3, your team will be considered an Arranged Team whenever you have invited your friends.
The downside of this system is the creation of a unbalance team to some aspect. Team work is one of the most important factor in Starcraft team games. If your searching a Random Team 4v4, you always has the probability of being matched against a 4v4 Arranged Team. Usually an arranged team party has a better teamwork as compared to being with random players.
What me and my friends have done is to have a party of 2s to search RT 3v3 or 4v4 and a party of 3s to search RT 4v4. If both of you are decent, you can be placed into the Diamond tier very soon with a good win ratio. We have a 80-90% win ratio on our RT without actually counting the real RT. However, you will realize that, the higher you place, the points being awarded to you has a huge fluctuation. I have actually gotten a +0 points in RT 4v4 with a party of 2 due to the match making system.
Overall, I think this is an decent feature, as team games are mostly considered casual as compared to solo 1v1. Team games are mostly being played with friends in a more relaxed environment. Finally enjoy SC2.
