Two times GSL Champion IMMvP wins his first international tournament MLG Anaheim taking down defending champion Slayers_MMA in the grand finals with style. This is MVP's first international Starcraft 2 tournament and the Korean monster takes it down convincingly. No doubt he is truely the best Terran currently. MVP's superior run throughout the whole tournament definitely impress the world. Some people claims that the SC2 Terran champion seems to be in a slump currently without any concrete results at the Korean SC2 GSL. However, MVP proves that he is indeed still in a impressive form.
MVP run throughout the whole tournament is no easy task for any progamers. Having to face, MVPDongRaeGu, who is the favourite to win MLG Raleigh, The Emperor himself, Slayers Boxer
, and finally defending champion Slayers_MMA with good controls, decision making and strategies.
MLG Anaheim is yet another Korean dominated tournament with top 4 beinge all Korean Terran players. 3 of the four semi finalists are from team Slayers, a very strong performance from the Korean team. Boxer, MMA and Ganzi are all top world class players. The next 4 consist
s of MVPDongRaeGu, Rain, LiquidHuk and Naniwa. This seems to be the current trend of Koreans dominating international tournaments and foreigners failed to defend their title once again at their own homegrown. Koreans has been bring back big paychecks.
EGIdra once again failed to perform well. Having a strong showing in the group stages behind Boxer, with his only loss to the emperor have to battle his way back from the losers bracket. However, luck is not on his side, with Naniwa managed to stop the Gracken.
I guess the most impressive showing is from Whitera, the Beast from the East. Whitera started his run in the SC2 MLG Open brackets, where players will have to battle their ways to obtain the 4 slots allocated. However, during round 2, Whitera was awarded with a loss for failing to turn up for the match in time. Thus, Whitera is down into the losers bracket. However, Grandpa Toss battled fiercely by winning the next 10 matches (if I'm not mistaken) but fell in the hands of Select with a very huge mistake or bad luck. Select managed to sniped down Whitera's Zealot Legs upgrade when its at 99% complete. Talk about bad luck. If the Zealot Speed was completed, Whitera is at a totally different spot and very likely to win the match.
MLG announced that no replays will be released from the SC2 tournament. Thus, we will not be able to watch and study the missing games. However, the missing games will be sent to selected Casters to be casted. A majority of SC2 fans are not very happy with this decision but oh well.
Slayers_Alicia failed to perform having fallen in the hands of Tod, the legendary Warcraft 3 player in the round 1 of the Open bracket. Choya lost in the hands of LiquidTyler. Tyler has shown tremendous improvement in SC2 by winning a slot from the Open bracket. Tyler has previously decided to quit SC2 due to his bad performance. However, this does not stop the legendary Brood War and SC2 player from getting back with a huge force.
I wish that the foreigners can perform and train harder for the next major international SC2 tournament. Koreans has been dominating every major event, from Dreamhack, MLG and even Teamliquids online game open tournament.
Congratulations to IMMvP for winning MLG Anaheim, defending champion, Slayers_MMA for his strong showing and not to be forgotten the emperor himself, SlayersBoxer for his third place finishing.
