Ok lets come back to 2v2 double Protoss strategy. What this Up and Down pylons works is basically one Protoss builds a forward Pylon within your opponents base to gain vision while the other Protoss ally builds his Pylon from outside opponent's base. The build order we will be using here for double Protoss will be the exact same build in Protoss solo PvP build where you have 1 Zealot and 2 Stalkers with 4 gate at 26/26 food. If you are not familiar with this build yet, try searching for my previous article on 'The Exact PvP 4 Gate Build' where I had explained in details on this.
This is how you pull it off.
- Both you and your ally will start with a standard build of 9 Pylon 12 Gate and scout with 1 Probe for both of you.
- 1 Player will do the normal scouting while the other player hide the Probe at a corner of opponent's base.
- Try to find the best hidden location yourself.
- The player who does a normal scout with scout both opponents.
- The hidden Probe will build a Pylon inside opponent's base at a hidden location while the scouter will build his Pylon outside.
- Use your initial Stalkers to poke the front of opponents base, and warp in other units at your Proxy pylons.
- Thats it. You will be surprise how the effectiveness of this strategy.
- You do not need to wall the front of your base if there is no Zerg opponents in 2v2.
- On certain maps you can warp over destructible rocks/debris.
- No doubt 4 gate is the best strategy in 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 team games.
- You can use your Zerg ally's Overlord to gain vision for Warp In.
Good luck and explore the possibilities in Starcraft 2 team games.
