“Description
Team play map, you share a fortress with your allies. Additional resources are nearby but further resources will push you towards the outskirts and away from your defendable position position.”
District 10 is a new 4v4 map introduced by Blizzard in Starcraft 2. You may have tried out this map before in your 4v4 games. Let’s take a look at District 10.
- Bases are shared between allies. This clearly cut the map into half. As all the bases are shared the defending team gains a huge defender advantage.
- This map is extremely huge. Travel distance between your allies side to your opponent’s side take eons. Thus, early rushes do not work very well on this map.
- 3 Entrances to each base, with one being guarded by destructible debris; marked with red on the map.
- A free expansion for both sides. (Mark in yellow) This expansion is basically free so try to get it up as soon as possible. For Zerg, you may consider going for a 15 Hatch build on this map.
- 2 Xel’naga towers in the middle of map. Try to hold both of these towers, as both of these path are the normal route when attacking.
Now I will try my best to provide some tips and strategy on this new Starcraft 2 map.
- If you are in the later stages of your game, you may consider breaking the destructible debris at your base. This is essential to create a closer path to your opponent base if you are attacking. Breaking these rocks makes the expansion outside the rocks defendable.
- As a Zerg player, try to place your Overlords at the Pink circles position to gain vision of the path. This is extremely important. I do normally send my first 2 Overlords there.
- You may consider for a higher tech army. As rushes is easily scouted and prepared for due to the rush distance and two common routes to opponents bases.
- Muta Ling army is recommended on this map if you’re a Zerg for its mobility.
- Gear for a long game on this map. Focus your teams build more towards macro. All the games I played so far on this map seems to be extremely long.
- Always pay attention to the Destructible Debris at your base. This is the most common route of attack path as it has the widest ramp for the attacking team.
- As a Protoss, you may consider the mass Stalkers with Blink army for its mobility. Waiting for a Colossus to travel across the maps seems ages.
- Always hold both of the Xel’naga towers. Use a worker, Zerling or whatever units.
- Terran Drops are not as effective on District 10 due to its map design. It is a difficult task of reaching the mineral line.
laggiest 4v4 map thus far...
ReplyDeleteIf your having lag issues, try reducing down your video settings. Most likely caused by high food army count from all players.
