Females of Starcraft 2

This post will be dedicated to the females of Starcraft 2 game. Often times, in a male dominated online game such as SC 2, or even any other games from MMORPG (Massive Multi Player Role Playing Game) like World of Warcraft, Ragnarok Online, Prius Online, DOTA, Heroes of Newerth, the females gamers and players will probably get the most attention and limelight by the viewers and fans. Female gamers tend to stand out most in this male dominated scene. I will be picking 3 top females in the current Starcraft 2 scene.

Kim Ga Yeon

To top the list is non other than the 'Empress' of Starcraft. She is probably the most famous celebrity in Starcraft since the Brood war era. Ga Yeon is a celebrity actress in Korea. She has previously appeared in many Korean dramas. Ga Yeon is 'The Emperor', Slayers_Boxer's (Lim Yo Hwan) girlfriend. Boxer, the Emperor is the most successful gamer of all time and has gained fame and popularity in the esports industry that no one can match. Without this man, we will not be having eSports today. His contribution to the gaming arena is uncountable and often considered the father of eSports. Making Starcraft into what it was today, Boxer has always been considered a legend. Millions of his fans from Korea and around the world cheered when he first announced that The Emperor will be back into pro gaming scene of Starcraft 2.


Being Boxer's personal manager, she takes care of Boxer's everything; including contacting sponsors, live matchup arrangement and even Boxer's personal life where she cleans and cooks for The Emperor. She gets quite emotional at times when Boxer is playing on the main stage. You can check Boxer's documentary Boxer's Wing Ep 1 and 2 here. A must watch for every Boxer fans on Boxer's journey coming back into the Professional gamer scene in Starcraft 2 after a long retirement. Ga Yeon is taking good care of Boxer's team Slayers which has impressive upcoming players such as MMA, Ryung, Taeja, Alicia and Min. She is probably considered a 'Mom' by many of the players. Ga Yeon is playing under the nickname of Slayers_Jessica in Starcraft 2.

Linda Liao 'Pikachu'

Linda Liao gained fame in the Starcraft 2 scene after she won the first place champion in ESL SC2 Female Cup. Born in Taiwan and schooled in Canada, Linda Liao is a Taiwanese celebrity model, singer, and actress. This pretty model is currently promoting the Razer gaming product lines alongside with SlayersBoxer. Linda proves that she can handle both the silver screen and the gaming scene. Do not be fooled by her cute and hot look, she can probably takes you head on when it comes to Starcraft 2 game. Blizzard has photoshoped a special image of Pikachu in a Marine suite specifically for her victory. However, we have not heard much from her since the ESL SC2 Female Cup championship.

Kelly Milkies

Kelly Milkies is famous for her appearance as a SC2 caster in the previous GOMTV GSL Code A matches. The Singaporean gamer and caster has been very successful in the gaming scene since 2005 playing competitively in Counter Strike with both male and females team. Her several titles includes games such as Guitar hero and Dota (Defense of the Ancients). A Zerg player in Starcraft 2, she is seen training countless of hours in improving her gameplay to become the very best female gamer. Kelly is probably the best caster from the SEA scene. The Singapore caster and gamer even appeared in the FHM Singapores (For Him Magazine).

TossGirl the Protoss player from STX soul team in the Broodwar days was probably the best female professional gamer of all time. She has garnered millions of fans from Korea and the rest of the world. Her fame comes from her beauty and her impressive SC skill that impresses even the male pro gamers. She has shown that even female gamers can face the toughest competition in the male dominated Starcraft Broodwar korean scene. She has matched against the very best Broodwar players such as Yellow, Reach, Gorush, Bisu and other top prominent names in the Brood war scene.
