LiquidHuk Wins Dreamhack Summer 2011

LIQUIDHUK WINS DREAMHACK!!!

The Canadian Starcraft 2 Protoss professional gamer finally did it. LiquidHuk wins Dreamhack Summer 2011 after going an incredible impressive 16-1 record going into the finals. Huk is hungry for a championship after a very long time that seems to be ages since his last trophy in MLG which is months ago. Finally Huk reclaimed the crown once again in the extremely competitive Dreamhack Summer Tournament against the top players from US, Europe and Koreans. Chris Loranger, the famous Canadian Protoss has spend months with his unending training in South Korea competing in the GSL tournament. Having doing extremely well in GSL and with code S status going into GSL July, Huk is the only foreigner left in Code S. Huk is a training machine and had been seen streaming and training in the Korean SC ladder for up to 12 hours a day which is even more than the Korean pro gamers. Huk's hardwork and insane training schedule has finally paid off.

Setting an impressive day 1 and 2 victory in his group stages with an undefeated 5-0 record, Huk enters the Round of 16 confidently in his strong playstyle. During his group stages, Huk defeated Moon in a very impressive and extremely nail biting game 1 where Huk showed the world his impressive micro and multitasking facing Moon's Mutalisk and Zergling haress. A very long 30+ minutes game where the game ended with Huk around 16 Probes against around 9 Drones from Moon. Huk proceeded to take out Moon easily with fast Dark Templars against the unexpected Moon in game 2.

Going into the round of 16, Huk faces Predy the lesser known Chez Terran player and takes the match easily with a 2-0 victory. In the round of 16 itself, we have all four Korean Invitees; oGsMC, ST_July, ST_Bomber and FoxMoon advancing into the round of 8.

oGsMC vs EGIdra
In the round of 16, we have a faceoff  from EGIdra and oGsMC once again. MC has knocked out Idra twice in a row since their previous matches. First from the Dreamhack Invitational and then in MLG Columbus. Idra is hungry for a revenge here. This match actually has more than 80k viewers on the Day9 stream itself. Viewers are excited to watch the rematch of these two great players. In the end, MC with his superior micro and macro ability, most notable for MC Forcefield ended the advancement of the Gracken.

Huk's journey in the Round of 8 Dreamhack tournament faces against his nemesis Socke, a very strong Protoss player. Socke has knocked out Huk twice in the previous tournaments. Huk will have to face his own fear of Socke and his weakness in PvP matchup. Finally, Huk showed the world that he has overcome his fear and his PvP is remarkable.

On the other hand, oGsMC, the Kratoss Protoss finally fell in the hands of another Top Korean Professional Gamer, ST_Bomber. Thus, in the semifinals, we have 3 Korean players; Moon, Bomber, July and Huk being the only Caucasian seeking to defend the nations pride.

In the semifinals, Huk is paired against non other than ST_July, JulyZerg the Golden Mouse Winner in Starcraft Brood War. During their last encounter in Code S, Huk was knocked out by July and Huk is eager to face the God of War once again. Huk took a very convincing 2-0 victory against July.

Before going into the finals, ST_July predicted the score will be 3-2 in Huk's favour. In the finals only a Korean Zerg player, FoxMoon is standing in his way. Huk needs to take down his final opponent to claim his victory. Going into Game 1, Huk pulled a very impressive 4 Gate strategy with mass Sentries against the unexpected FoxMoon. Moon actually scouted the Proxy second Pylon but unable to react in time. This 4 gate strategy is very smartly done by Huk as according to Huk's reasoning, he did mostly 3 Gate expand in his previous encounter against Moon and July. Thus, this will be a perfect opportunity to pull a cheese and indeed it work magnificently.

Game 2 on Shakuras Plateau has Huk going for a fast third Nexus but was unable to defend against the unending Roach Ling pressure from Moon and Huk finally GGs evening up the score one game each.

Game 3 on Crossfire, Moon pulls out a Losira Roach Ling Rush which dealt immense damage to Huk but Huk with his incredible ForceField usage managed to defend the push and stabalize. Huk's Force Field is second only to MC and Huk has the top 3 best micro out of Starcraft 2 gamers. In the end Huk lost the game after getting cornered by Moon's army.

Going into Game 4, Huk's pressure seems to be building up greatly as a lose here will hand over the championship to Moon. LiquidTyler is seen giving some advice to Huk before the match on Crevasse. Even the lucky stars are on Huk's side is all I can say about this match. Huk's goes for a fast Nexus while Moon expands at the natural outside his front base. Huk failed to scout the expansion and heads towards Moon's inner expansion. Huk proceeded to thrown down 5-6 Cannons expecting a 1 base Roach Ling bust from Moon. This is due to Huk failed to scout the expansion outside. Moon proceeded to cancel his expansion and goes for a 1 base all in. Huk is really lucky here. Moon's push failed miserably facing against the multiple Cannons and a 2 DTs ended the game.

Final game 5 on Tel Darim Altar sees Huk going for a Forge Fast expansion due to his Pylon placement. Huk luckily scouts the correct position where Moon is going for a 6 Pool. Huk seems to be incredibly lucky again having scout the cheese. Huk managed to wall off his front base in time against the 6 Pool. Moon is planning on a second all in with Roaches and Zerglings. Huk managed to defend the push and is seemed smiling in his booth knowing he will be the champion of Dreamhack and indeed he is.
