SC2 Grandmasters FAQ Blizzard

Below is the explanation and FAQs on Starcraft 2 online game grandmasters league provided by Blizzard. This will answer a lot of your questions regarding the new Grandmasters league that will come online two weeks after season 2 ladder reset.

Grandmaster League Preview and FAQ

The Grandmaster League commences two weeks after the start of the second StarCraft II League season and is limited to the top 200 eligible players per region -- it is truly the most prestigious Battle.net league for StarCraft II players and will determine who belongs at the top of the ladder. Qualification for this league takes place during the first two weeks of play following the start of a new season, after which potential Grandmaster League candidates must play one more match in order to receive their promotion. Keep in mind that play isn’t separated by league, so Diamond or Master League players will still have the same chance as before to face off against the Grandmasters.

Zerg Team Game Building Placement

One of the main weaknesses of Zerg in Starcraft 2 online games for team matches such as 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 is Zerg's inability to wall the front of their bases. This is due to Zerg's unique design with the requirement of placing a tech building on larvae creeps. This has always been the way how Zerg works even from Starcraft 1. However, do not take lightly the Zerg's building placements in team games. I have defended countless online team games from Zerglings rushes to Baneling Busts with a well placed buildings around my main Hatchery.

SC2 Ladder Has been Reset - Season 2

Starcraft 2 online game ladder has been reset today. This will be Season 2 for Starcraft 2.
  • One placement match needs to be done to determine your League.
  • Your previous Starcraft 2 online game MMR (Match Making Rating) will stay before the ladder reset from Season 1.
  • MMR is different from your Displayed Points and is hidden. (Try Google for it for more in depth explanation)
  • Grandmasters League has not been added. Most likely after 2 weeks of each new season.
  • As for Grandmasters League, top 200 players from each Starcraft 2 online game server will be promoted into this league, when it comes online.
  • The Grandmasters League players will be locked in this league for the whole season. Only players who are inactive and accruing too much bonus pool will be demoted from this league.

Terran Team Game Building Placement

Generally, I would recommend every Terran to wall off the front of their base in every team games; either 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4. In Starcraft 2 online game, Terran is deemed to have the best defensive ability out of all the races available. This is due to Terrans ability to set up a wall at the front choke ramp with Supply Depots and Barracks very early in the game. The new ability of Lowering and Raising Supply Depots greatly ensures Terran to be in a very safe position at all times.

Notable players such as MoonGlade, MakaPrime, Cella, Cezanne, Moon, oGsHero etc are being eliminated from the qualifiers. How to Defend Zerglings with Workers Micro

Ever lost all your workers either SCVs, Drones or Probes to Zergling that managed to sneak into your mineral line? I think everyone had lost a couple of games to early Zergling rushes before. However, with a little micro, you can improve your chance of defending Zerglings and surviving from rushes considerably. I will show you a step by step how on to defend against Zerglings in Starcraft 2 solo 1v1 online game.

  • Workers vs 6 Zerglings
This often occurs when the Zerg playing is going for a fast Spawning Pool, whether a 6, 7, 8 or 10 pool. The amount of Zerglings will most likely be 6 with more on its way. Without micro you may probably lose a few SCVs. With the following steps you can reduce the damage inflicted to minimum loses. This micro ensures maximum damage is done to those Zerglings by surround them with your workers while reducing the damage received by your workers.

Protoss Team Game Building Placement

On this article, I will be writing on building placements for the Starcraft 2 Protoss race in team games such as 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4. Building placements can often times win and lose you games. Failure to wall against early Zergling rushes from one or more Zergs can often times eliminate you from the team game it self. Thus, we should pay more attention to our building placements as a Protoss.

1. You do not have to wall if there is no Zerg
Basically, in your team games as a Protoss player, there is no need to wall the front of your base if there is no Zerg players on the opposite team. Generally, walling the front of Protoss base only comes in handy against Zergling/Speedling rushes.

Team Games Guide: Rally Points

This article is dedicated to how to place your rally points in Starcraft 2 team games such as 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4. Often times, you should be aware where you are placing your rally points, either in a defensive position or when on offensive. You should be careful not to let your rallied units get intercepted by your opponents.

Rally points can basically be divided into two areas, the Defensive Rally Points and Offensive Rally Points.

Double Protoss 2v2 strategy tips Up and Down Pylons

This is a 2v2 strategy for double Protoss that I have been using and seems to be working well. Double Protoss is a very strong combination in Starcraft 2v2 team games. As you all know, the infamous 4 Gate has been very strong from solo 1v1 games, to team games such as 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 and is the most widely used Protoss strategy. There is no doubt 4 gating is the one of the strongest Protoss strategy abusing the WarpGate technology for Protoss where warping anywhere in the map with only a Pylon. Sometimes I feel that Warpgate is broken and Imbalance.
Ok lets come back to 2v2 double Protoss strategy. What this Up and Down pylons works is basically one Protoss builds a forward Pylon within your opponents base to gain vision while the other Protoss ally builds his Pylon from outside opponent's base. The build order we will be using here for double Protoss will be the exact same build in Protoss solo PvP build where you have 1 Zealot and 2 Stalkers with 4 gate at 26/26 food. If you are not familiar with this build yet, try searching for my previous article on 'The Exact PvP 4 Gate Build' where I had explained in details on this.

Starcraft 2 Workers; SCV, Drones, Probes HOLD and STOP Trick!

I realised that a lot of you players are still not familiar with this Starcraft 2 workers trick. The following will guide you through the whole process. HOLD is a better option than STOP but both works fines.

What is this worker trick all about?
The workers trick is basically, when you set your workers either SCVs, Drones or Probes to 'HOLD' or 'STOP' position using the 'H' or 'S' button, enemy units will not target them when you have other units such as Marines, Zealots, Zerglings etc around. With this trick you can reduce the amount of damage inflicted to your mineral line to the bare minimum.

This trick works best against melee units.

GSL 5 Group A and B Up and Down matches RESULTS

Here's some explanation if you are wondering how the up and down matches works.

  • A total of 8 groups (from Group A to Group H)
  • Up and down matches consists of top 8 Code A players and 16 Code S players who lost in their round of 32 GSL Code S matches.
  • Each group is being divided into 3 players consisting
  • Two players from each group will obtain code S status
  • While the last and remaining player will drop to Code A
  • During the RO 32 Code S previously, the 3rd place will get two shots while the 4th place will only get a shot. What this means is the Code A player will first play the 3rd place. The loser of this match will then play the 4th place player. Loser of this match will drop down to Code A.

Starcraft 2 Guide - Creating Your Own Team Game Strategies Tips

The most wonderful part of Starcraft 2 team games (2v2, 3v3 or 4v4) is where you are allowed to create your own team strategies. This is often contrasted from the solo 1v1 match where build order is one of the most important factors in the match. In team games you are given the pleasure to perform a wider variety of builds. However, you will still need to react to what your opponents are doing such as when the Zergs are 8 Pooling or Cannon rushing.

Terran vs Protoss (TvP) Tips: Always kill Observers

If you are a Terran player in Starcraft 2, ALWAYS kill scouting Observers from your Protoss opponents. As a Protoss player myself, Observers provides too much information to me. Letting me know what the Terran's build order, tech paths and when are they moving out provides me a serious advantage and upper hand in the matchup.

How to Improve in Starcraft 2 - Part 14- Have a Good Computer and Mouse

If you plan to be a good Starcraft 2 gamer, you always need a good and decent computer. It is not recommended to just have computer that is borderline for Starcraft 2 minimum requirement. This will affects the graphic settings as well as your frame rate which will have a huge impact in your games. I first started playing Starcraft 2 with a below minimum requirement computer specs and I have to admit that that was a very bad experience. Having to play with constant screen tearing and freezing is not a good feeling. Thus, I do recommend using better and higher specs computers to run Starcraft 2.

GSL Code S RO 8 Day 1: Battle of Starcraft Legends and RESULTS

Today march the first day of GSL Starcraft 2 League top 8 Day 1. 4 Legendary players will be battling it out to secure a spot in the semifinals. oGsMC the legendary Protoss player and winner of GSL 2 takes on HongUnPrime.we a very unpredictable and innovatice Protoss players.

However, two legendary names from the second match of the day will create nerd chills across the Starcraft 2 scene. The legendary ST_JULY, a legend of his own in Starcraft 1 scene. Highly innovative and unpredictable aggressive strategies create a real distinction between July Zerg and other Zerg players. ST_July will be facing another legend of Starcraft 1, oGsNada, the Genius Terran. Nada with his impressive micro and macro multitasking has gained him enormous fame in the Starcraft scene throughout the world.

A Look Into oGsMC’s Force Field Usage with Screenshots

Force Field often defines a top tiered Protoss player to a normal skilled Protoss in Starcraft 2. The Force Field spell regularly defines the outcome of the Protoss matchup. A mistake or bad placed Force Field will lose you countless of games. On the other hand, perfect placed Force Field usage in your games will often break the matchup itself.

GSL Maps on Battle Net Ladder Soon

Apparently, Blizzard will be adding the current new GSL maps such as Tel'Darim Altar, Crevasse and Terminus RE on Starcraft 2 battle net ladder. It is about time for them to do this as the current map pool is terrible. The new map pool for Starcraft 2 will have a total of 9 maps divided into 3 macro oriented, 3 aggressive and 3 intermediate maps. GSL maps are considered as the macro oriented maps. Each player will have their map preferences in relation to their own play style. Players may thumbs down or veto maps accordingly.

However, there is no confirmation date or patch for this release. We hope that the new map pool will be implemented in the next patch 1.3.

New PvT Strategy by oGsHero- 4 Sentries Warp Prism

This is a new Protoss vs Terran strategy shown to the world by oGsHero a very talented but lesser known Protoss player from Korean Professional Team OGS (Old Generation Starcraft). This strategy is performed by oGsHero in the recent FXOpen Invitational Starcraft 2 tournament, where ogsHero was crowned the champion after beating oGsSTC in the Grand Finals. oGsSTC is another team member of oGs, where both of these Korean players met in the grand finals.

It is Possible to Blink over Force Field

If you guys already knew this, congratulations. If not you will understand now that it is possible for Stalkers to Blink over Force Fields. This is very essential for the Protoss vs Protoss PvP matchup. How this works is exactly the same way as how warping units over Force Field work. PvP is a very hard matchup and agreed by most Protoss players. A simple mistake can cost you the game. This is the nature of PvP.
Use a Stalker to check the ramp. Stalker being blocked by a Force Field.

ST.ACE wins IEM Intel Masters Extreme

ST.ACE was new IEM Intel Masters Extreme champion for Starcraft 2 after defeating Fox.Moon in a close matchup during the Grand Finals. ST.Squirtle another Protoss player from Korean StarTale clan on the other hand took the third place after taking down MoonGlade, the Australian Zerg player. The top 3 spots are being occupied by 3 Koreans Starcraft 2 pro gamers.

Tactical Guide in Starcraft 2

Tactical Guide in Starcraft 2

“Tactics can be defined as, a sequence of moves which limits the opponent’s options and result in tangible gain. Tactics are usually contrasted with strategy, in which advantages take longer to be realized, and the opponent is less constrained to responding.”

Tactics and strategies are two very essential tools often used in every aspect of our lives, from military tactics to chess strategy tactics. From the definition above, we can clearly define strategies which is a longer term oriented goal. Tactics on the other hand, are used to justify and achieve a strategy goal. Let’s look from the Starcraft 2 point of view. We often implement both of these factors into your games with a common goal of winning the game. We can often define a strategy easily from the perspective of a specific build. Clear cut strategies involving certain specific builds such as 3 Gateway expansion, 1 Barracks expansion, 15 Hatch, 2 Gate Robo, Terrans 1-1-1 Destiny Cloud Fist build and the list goes on can often be told and analyze easily. We may also define a strategy such as aiming for a 3 bases Protoss max army strategy etc. On the other hand, tactics are used to achieve this specific strategy.

LiquidHuk vs Revival GSL RO 16 Battle Report Insane Game Series

Set 1 Crossfire SE

Revival starts with an early gas pool build while Huk starts with a Gateway Core build. An early Speeding Upgrade from the Zerg player and starts an expansion at his natural. Huk soon puts down 2 additional Gateways into a 3 Gate expansion build. Huk starts to research Hallucination. Hallucinated Phoenixes from Huk scouted Revival’s base without a Spire or Hydralisk Den indicating a Roach heavy build. A large group of Roaches manage to sneak into Huk’s expansion with borrow and the second group of Roaches and Zerglings are able to sandwich Huk’s army from both sides forcing a GG from Huk. A very fast game involving the use of aggressive mass Roaches.

Current State of PvP - LiquidHuk vs LotzePrime PvP

The current state of Protoss vs Protoss, PvP mirror match up totally revolves around 4 gating on high levels. This is kind of disappointing and frustrating. If a player goes for a 2 Gate Robo build with 2 Assimilators, he will most likely fall to a standard 4 gate. The only option and the best counter for a 4 gate will be a defensive 4 gate for yourself.

Top 5 ways To Bad Manner in Starcraft 2

I am by no means encouraging you to bad manner in your ladder games. I am just pointing out on this. I bet everyone has met at least a player with 'Bad Manner' in their games. Here's top 5 ways how to join them and Bad Manner your opponents.

5. Cursing/ Bad mouth and calling Noobs

At no 5, we have the usual players who curse and curse the hell out of you. This is the most common Bad Manner found on battle.net. Mostly uncivilized 10 year old kids, who doesn't even know how to play Starcraft 2 or any games properly. I am always surprise when someone calling you a noob, when you actually won the game. Who is noober? The noob who won the game or the one losing to the so called noob?
